About us
A family business with scissors and heart
Kapsalon De Meester started in 1978 as a village barber with two chairs. Almost fifty years on, we’re still a family business — just with a few more chairs and better coffee.

Our story
From village barber to trusted address
In 1978 Willem de Meester opened his doors on the Dorpsstraat. His scissors, his comb and his radio: that was all he needed. People came for a good cut and stayed for the conversation.
His daughter Marloes grew up between the hairdryers and took over in 2005. Her mission: keep her father’s craftsmanship alive and let the salon grow with new techniques. Recently her son Jesse started learning the trade — the third generation.
We’ve deliberately stayed small. Here you know your stylist by name and we take our time: for your hair, but also for a chat.
What we stand for
Three promises, every appointment
I
Listen first
Every treatment starts with a conversation. What do you want, and what suits your hair and your mornings?
II
Honest advice
Something won’t suit your hair? We’ll tell you — kindly, and with a better alternative.
III
Professional products
We work with products we’ve tested ourselves. What we use, you can take home too.
IV
Always coffee
Or tea, or a glass of water. Here you’re never just a client.
Since 1978
Three generations, one chair
Our story in four chapters. Scroll through almost fifty years of cutting, colouring and coffee on the Dorpsstraat.
1978
Willem opens two chairs
On the Dorpsstraat, Willem de Meester opens a small barbershop: two chairs, one basin and a radio that’s always on low. The neighbourhood comes for a sharp cut and stays for the chat.

1992
A salon for the whole family
The shop grows with the neighbourhood. Willem breaks through into the building next door, adds women’s chairs, a hood dryer and the first loyal colour clients. Mums, dads and kids: from now on, everyone is welcome at De Meester.

2005
Marloes takes over the scissors
Daughter Marloes grew up between the hairdryers. After her training and years in Amsterdam salons, she takes over the business — with her father’s craftsmanship and new techniques like balayage and bridal hair.

2024
The third generation joins the team
Today Marloes, Sanne and Tom work together in the renewed salon, and Marloes’ son Jesse is learning the trade. The chairs are newer, the coffee is better — the attention is exactly the same.

The team
The hands behind your new look
Marloes, Sanne, Tom and Jesse: four craftspeople, each with their own speciality — and all with time for a good chat in the chair.
